Jirtle v. Town of Briscoe

A North Carolina state trial court recently ruled in favor of a church which sought to operate a food pantry on its land. The court found that it would place a substantial burden on the church’s religious exercise if it were not allowed to operate a food pantry from a separate building on its property. The court affirmed the Town Board of Adjustment’s earlier decision allowing the church to continue operating that facility.
