Becket Fund defends constitutionality of RLUIPA

On August 17, 2004, Anthony Picarello, President and General Counsel of The Becket Fund, argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta, Georgia in
Benning v. Amideo. Picarello, as counsel of record for Benning, defended the constitutionality of RLUIPA (Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000), a law that in part protects prisoners’ religious rights and practices.
